The first thing that stood out to me with Lost Sword was the presentation. The artwork is beautiful, character designs are memorable, and the animations during combat are smooth and flashy without becoming overwhelming. Every new character I unlocked felt unique, and I enjoyed seeing their ultimate skills in action. Every female character (and honestly, even some of the generic mob enemies) features incredibly fluid, flashy, and over-the-top 2D live animation cut-ins when casting ultimate skills. If you are playing purely for the aesthetic and character design, the art team absolutely carried their weight.
Combat is easy to learn but still satisfying. Building a balanced team and upgrading characters became one of my favorite parts of the game. While some stages can be completed on auto, I found that tougher content required paying attention to team composition and timing, which kept battles from becoming completely mindless.
The story was another pleasant surprise. Although it starts out like a typical fantasy adventure, I found myself becoming invested in the characters and their relationships as the story progressed. There are plenty of humorous moments mixed with more serious scenes, giving the game a nice balance of lighthearted fun and emotional storytelling.
Like most mobile RPGs, the gacha system is both exciting and frustrating. Pulling a rare character feels incredibly rewarding, but there were definitely times when luck wasn’t on my side. Progression also slows down later in the game, requiring daily resource farming and patience if you’re playing for free.
Despite those drawbacks, I enjoy logging in each day. There always seemed to be something to work toward, whether it is upgrading my favorite characters, completing events, or taking on more difficult content. The developers also seem to provide regular updates, which helps keep the game feeling fresh.
Overall, Lost Sword has become one of the more enjoyable mobile RPGs I’ve played recently. Between the polished visuals, entertaining combat, likable cast, and engaging progression, it’s a game that’s easy to recommend to fans of anime-style gacha RPGs. It isn’t perfect, but it’s a fun experience that has kept me coming back far longer than I expected.
